Live projects with industry undertaken whilst studying at central saint martins with the company, Swarovski.
Léa’s project entitled ‘growth’ began with an interest in mycelium, the vegetative part of a fungus, a fluffy, thread-like cotton mass that grows on soil. Like the precious Swarovski stones, it was important to find a material that also originated from the earth to allow for an interaction between man-made and natural elements. In keeping with her attraction to naturally grown materials, Léa found beauty in the oyster mushroom. with time, the mushroom took on its own, organic shape which Léa left unmodified, resulting in a wearable necklace that could be recycled or biodegraded.
